Sachin Tendulkar Adopts Putramrajuvari Kandriga
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar adopts Putramrajuvari Kandriga under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY). Putramrajuvari Kandriga is a little village in the Nellore district with 150 families residing in it.
Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana is a rural development programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 11, 2014, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jai Prakash Narayan, under which each MP will have to adopt a village and develop it. In this regard, Sachin Tendulkar met the Prime Minister and expressed his interest to adopt a village under this programme. Tendulkar chose Putramrajuvari Kandriga village and allotted around 4 crores from his MP funds. According to reports, Sachin will visit the village on November 16.
Putramrajuvari Kandriga is 18 kilometres from Gudur with around 600 people residing in it. This village has no basic utilities such as drainage, hospital, transport etc. Sachin Tendulkar wants to provide all basic facilities in addition to establishing a computer centre with WiFi, a banking system and public toilets. He also has the plan to merge Putramrajuvari Kandriga with Gollappali, the adjacent village. The decision of Tendulkar was appreciated by many people and this village is now popular in news.
