Neel Mukherjee – An Indian born Author is in the Booker Prize’s Shortlist
The Lives of Others’, Neel Mukherjee’s latest novel, has been short listed for the prestigious Booker Prize 2014. The novel centred on a dysfunctional family in Bengal in 1960s. In addition to this, five more books are shortlisted for this prize. Born in Kolkata, Neel Mukherjee studied at Oxford and Cambridge. This is his second novel. His first novel, ‘A Life Apart’ won jointly the Vodafone-Crossword Award in India.
Neel Mukherjee – An Indian born Author is in the Booker Prize’s Shortlist
Neel Mukherjee is a British citizen now and reviews fiction for the Times and the Sunday Telegraph. Earlier, Booker prize was open only to authors from the U.K. and Commonwealth, Republic of Ireland and Zimbabwe. But, for the first time in its history, the prize has been opened up to writers irrespective of their nationality, if the writings are written in English and published in the UK.
